About Me
My Journey: From Roots to Calling
I am Christina Cherian, an Air Force officer’s daughter, raised across different states of India. Experiencing diverse cultures, traditions, and communities instilled in me adaptability, openness, and respect for diversity. Growing up in a disciplined yet nurturing environment, with parents who were educators, inspired my belief that teaching is not just a profession but a calling to shape minds and lives. My personal journey studying in a CBSE school, teaching over a decade in ICSE and ISC schools, and now training to teach in an IB environment has provided me with a unique perspective to contribute meaningfully to Education.
Outside the classroom, I enjoy gardening, spending quality time with family, and creating spaces of calm and curiosity. These personal pursuits enhance my teaching practice, allowing me to model wellbeing, emotional awareness, and joy. I believe these qualities are essential for authentic learning.
My uniqueness: Educated by Diversity, Dedicated to Student Growth
My journey across CBSE, ICSE, ISC, and now IB learning contexts uniquely positions me to contribute meaningfully to an IB school. Having experienced the structure, rigour, and conceptual depth of Indian curricula, I now integrate these strengths with the IB’s inquiry-driven, globally conscious pedagogy. This blending allows me to design learning that is academically strong yet deeply student-centred—where agency, questioning, reflection, and emotional safety guide classroom experiences. Although I have not yet taught in an IB school, I have consciously woven IB principles into my practice: promoting inquiry, fostering collaborative meaning-making, nurturing learner autonomy, and embedding mindfulness and wellbeing into daily routines. Engaging with IB pedagogy through online courses, webinars, and collaborative tasks has strengthened my ability to use ATL skills, global contexts, and concept-based approaches with clarity and purpose. My diverse background empowers me to build culturally responsive learning spaces, anticipate varied learner needs, and create lessons that connect local understanding with global perspectives. This balanced integration of structure and inquiry, tradition and innovation, positions me to contribute uniquely—and confidently—as an IB educator committed to lifelong learning, compassion, and principled action
Leadership and Mentorship: Beyond the Classroom
I have served as a class patron, Senior House Counsellor, and facilitator of clubs like Science and Nature. Mentoring over 800 students has taught me that education extends beyond textbooks; it involves shaping confidence, character, and empathy. My experiences as an ISC practical examiner have further broadened my perspective
